House Resolution 63

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2023-2024 HARTFIELD ACADEMY HAWKETTES DANCE TEAM FOR WINNING THE MIDSOUTH ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS (MAIS) SPIRIT COMPETITION IN BOTH THE MEDIUM VARSITY POM CATEGORY AND THE MEDIUM VARSITY KICK CATEGORY.

     WHEREAS, the 2023-2024 Hartfield Academy Hawkettes Dance Team reigned victorious at the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Spirit Competition, winning both the medium varsity Pom Category and the medium varsity Kick category, and taking home a double state title; and

     WHEREAS, the 2023-2024 Hartfield Academy Hawkettes Dance Team is comprised of the following exceptional student-athletes:  Jenna Claire Davis, Aniston Thompson, Addison Nash, Riley Windham, Addison Rose, Carlylsle Harkins, Becky Hand, Saige Finnie, Callie Bradshaw, Pepper Newman, Lele Barlow, Ellie Pettus, Ava Yancey, Lexi Claire Herring, Jayne Riley Edwards, Landrey Lewis, Adalyn Bell, Brooklyn Shearer, Charley Farris, Lucy Warden, Mary Haddox Tucker and Leeana Sandidge; and

     WHEREAS, the captains of the four-time state championship dance team, who were also chosen as MAIS All-Star Dancers, are Jenna Claire Davis, Addison Nash and Aniston Thompson; and

     WHEREAS, the Hawkettes have been superbly coached and inspired by Coaches Addison Smith and Taylor Willoughby, and manager, Sarah Bray Everett, who have certainly broadened the teams' knowledge of dance and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the members of this illustrious team have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their excellence reflects greatly upon the individual team members and their dedicated coaches; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Mississippi House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the members of the Hartfield Academy Hawkettes Dance Team, whose hard work and dedication brings honor to Hartfield Academy and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the members of the 2023-2024 Hartfield Academy Hawkettes Dance Team for winning the Midsouth Association Independent Schools (MAIS) Spirit Competition, in both the medium varsity Pom Category and the medium varsity Kick category, and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be  furnished to Hartfield Academy Hawkettes Dance Team, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
