A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. RANA WALLEY FOR BEING SELECTED AS 2023 INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR, REPRESENTING HEALTH SCIENCES AND THE CENTERS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Dr. Rana Walley, a resident of Vancleave, Mississippi, has been selected as 2023 Instructor of the Year at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Walley, a Program Director and Instructor of Medical Laboratory Technology, has taught at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past 11 years; and
WHEREAS, dedicated to academic excellence, Dr. Walley received a bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in biology from Millsaps College, completed the Medical Technology Program at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, received a master of clinical science degree with an emphasis in biology and chemistry from Mississippi College, and a doctor of philosophy degree in clinical health science from the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, prior to her career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Dr. Walley has worked as an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, an adjunct instructor at the University of Memphis, a medical technologist at Singing River Health Systems, and a medical technologist and Researcher IV at the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend such an outstanding teacher as Dr. Walley, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Rana Walley for being selected as 2023 Instructor of the Year, representing Health Sciences and The Centers of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Rana Walley and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
