A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY LADY TIGERS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2022 SOUTHWESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Jackson State University Lady Tigers Soccer Team capped its run at the tournament, reigning supreme at the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Soccer Championship, after defeating Grambling State 4-2 in overtime, a truly tremendous achievement; and
WHEREAS, in becoming the SWAC champions, the Lady Tigers invested countless measures of hard work, and outplayed and ultimately outlasted their opponents, to bring home the SWAC championship title; and
WHEREAS, striving to win with unparalleled motivation and ardent determination, the Lady Tigers's mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they entered onto the field, until the game ended, and they raised their well-deserved championship trophy; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers's statistics were impressive (11-8-1, 9-1-1), but the key to this team's consistent success has been the year-round hard work by the following talented athletes: Jordan Hamilton, Tionna Taylor, Ayanna Pinder, Caiah Smith, Kiana Tulloch, Sage Magruder, Marley Thompson, Alexes Sanchez, Kyla Sands, Kendyl Terrell, Yayira Ahortor, Anne Sjolte, Keona Crowell, Meagan Picon, Sydni Wilson, Olivia Cobb, Jordan Smith, Brittney Williams, Harper Bennett, Chechulae Dowling, Brynn Walker, Maya-Joy Thompson, Annalise Brunson, Kori Walters, Chantae Blackwood, Alessia Skinner, Francia Pressoir, Taiona Farmer Jackson, Alanna Clarke, Jaelyn Greer, Kalia Uehara, Karime Antonio Lopez; and
WHEREAS, since 2019, the Lady Tigers have been superbly coached and inspired by their head coach, Dr. Ted Flogaites, who has broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the Lady Tigers, whose excellence on and off the field brings honor to Jackson State University:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend the Jackson State University Lady Tigers Soccer Team and their head coach, Dr. Ted Flogaites, upon winning the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference Soccer Championship, and extend best wishes to the team for continued success in all their future athletic and academic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Ted Flogaites, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
