House Concurrent Resolution 83
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PINE GROVE HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 2A BOYS BASKETBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Pine Grove High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team capped off its remarkable season and reigned supreme against Velma Jackson High School to take home the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 2A Boys Basketball State Championship, securing their second state championship after winning in 1977; and
WHEREAS, although there were several standout individual performances over the course of the season, the championship win was a culmination of hard work and team effort, with every player knowing their role and executing it perfectly; and
WHEREAS, the Panthers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Jake Walker, who has broadened their knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of Mississippi's student-athletes, especially those such as the Pine Grove High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team, whose excellence on and off the court brings honor to the Pine Grove High School, their community, and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Pine Grove High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team upon winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 2A Boys Basketball State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team for continued success in all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Pine Grove High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
