Summary

An Act To Create The "mississippi Police Funding Protection Act"; To Require The Governing Authority Of Any County Or Municipality To Notify The Joint Legislative Budget Committee If The Operating Budget For Any Municipal Police Department Or Sheriff's Department, As The Case May Be, Is Reduced By Ten Percent Or More And Such Reduction Is Not The Result Of Decreased Tax Collections; To Provide That After Certain Determinations Are Made By The Joint Legislative Committee Pertaining To The Reductions, A County Or Municipality May Be Subject To Certain Penalties; To Amend Section 27-65-75, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Conform To The Preceding Section; And For Related Purposes.
