AN ACT

To repeal section 9.134, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to the designation of remembrance day in Missouri.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Section 9.134, RSMo, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 9.134, to read as follows:

            9.134. 1. The governor shall issue annually a proclamation setting apart the eleventh day of September as "Remembrance Day" and recommending to the people of the state that the day be appropriately observed in honor and out of respect for those who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and to honor the people of the United States who displayed heroism and courage during and after the attacks.

            2. The United States flag and the Missouri state flag shall be flown at half-staff on all government buildings on each September eleventh in honor of the individuals who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.
