1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to human services; modifying medical assistance coverage to include
1.3consultations with psychologists;amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section
1.4256B.0625, subdivision 48.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 256B.0625, subdivision 48, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8    Subd. 48. Psychiatric consultation to primary care practitioners. Effective
1.9January 1, 2006, Medical assistance covers consultation provided by a psychiatrist,
1.10psychologist, or an advanced practice registered nurse via telephone, e-mail, facsimile,
1.11or other means of communication to primary care practitioners, including pediatricians.
1.12The need for consultation and the receipt of the consultation must be documented in
1.13the patient record maintained by the primary care practitioner. If the patient consents,
1.14and subject to federal limitations and data privacy provisions, the consultation may be
1.15provided without the patient present.
