SENATE BILL No. 13

 

 

January 19, 2011, Introduced by Senator JANSEN and referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1846 RS 1, entitled

 

"Of the statutes,"

 

by amending section 3 (MCL 8.3) and by adding section 3x.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 3. In the construction of the statutes of this state, the

 

rules stated in sections 3a to 3w 3x shall be observed, unless such

 

that construction would be inconsistent with the manifest intent of

 

the legislature.

 

     Sec. 3x. The word "individual" shall be construed to mean a

 

natural person and to include a fetus.
