1 of Jeffersonville, Indiana, sponsored by the Wall Street
United Methodist Church, on its 100th anniversary.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Boy Scout
Troop 1 of Jeffersonville, Indiana, sponsored by the Wall Street
United Methodist Church, on its 100th anniversary.
Whereas, Boy Scout Troop 1, of Jeffersonville, Indiana,
is celebrating its 100th anniversary in March 2011;
Whereas, The first troop meeting of Boy Scout Troop 1
was in March 1911, just one year after the formation of the
Boy Scouts of America;
Whereas, The Wall Street United Methodist Church is the
only sponsor that Boy Scout Troop 1 has had throughout its
history;
Whereas, Boy Scout Troop 1 has had many notable
achievements over the last century, including: meeting with
the founder of Boy Scouts, Lieutenant General Robert Baden-
Powell in 1912; selling Liberty Bonds; growing Victory
Gardens; and offering aid during Jeffersonville's 1937 flood;
Whereas, Boy Scout Troop 1 has produced almost fifty
Eagle Scouts and five Silver Beaver recipients, and has
received national recognition; and
Whereas, Boy Scout Troop 1 has played a vital role in
shaping the character of Jeffersonville's youth by instilling
the values of the Scout Oath and Law, and in rendering
conspicuous service to our community for nearly a century:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Boy Scout Troop
1, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, sponsored by the Wall Street United
Methodist Church, on its 100th anniversary.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Boy Scout Troop 1.
