SENATE RESOLUTION

     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating the Carmel High School boys swimming and diving team on their 2011 State Championship.

    Whereas, The Carmel High School boys swimming and diving team captured a back-to-back Indiana High School Athletic Association State title;

    Whereas, With five consecutive wins from 1989-1994, repeat titles in 1996 and 1997, and the amazing 25- championship streak for the girls' team, it is safe to say the Carmel swimming program follows a trend unlike any other of its kind;

    Whereas, After their victory in 2010, the team's confidence soared and they were committed to defending their Championship title;

    Whereas, Greyhounds Senior Matt Gerth won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:39:08. Gerth capped off the meet as the anchor for the 400 Freestyle relay, coming from behind to win the championship with a time of 3:06:90. Kiernan McGreehan, Jon Astashinsky, and Max McKay comprised the

rest of the unstoppable relay team;

    Whereas, Though Gerth was one of the main stars for the Greyhounds, the rest of the team was equally impressive and Head Coach Chris Plumb was very pleased with the way the team dominated; and

    Whereas, It took hard work and confidence for the Carmel High School boys swim team to sweep the competition on their way to a back-to-back State Championship title. Their victory is well-deserved: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates the Carmel High School boys swimming and diving team on their 2011 State Championship.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Carmel High School boys swimming and diving team, Head Coach Mike Bostic, Athletic Director Jim Inskeep, and the Carmel Clay board of directors.
