SENATE RESOLUTION

MADAM PRESIDENT:

I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to establish an interim study committee to more clearly define what is included in instructional and noninstructional spending by school corporations.

Whereas, All Hoosiers want state and local tax dollars spent for public education to be used in a way that maximizes effective instruction and learning; and

Whereas, In order for these tax dollars to be used in the most efficient manner, it becomes necessary for those creating the educational budgets to have a better understanding of the scope of the categories involved in funding education: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish an interim study committee to more clearly define what is included in instructional and noninstructional spending by school corporations.
SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council, and that the committee shall issue a final report when directed to do so by the council.
