RESOLUTION No. _____
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Lafayette
Central Catholic baseball team on winning the Class A state
championship, their third state championship out of the last four years.
Whereas, The stakes for the Lafayette Central Catholic
baseball team could not have been higher in the state final
against Tecumseh at Victory Field. It was an opportunity to
win a back to back championship, to become a dynasty with
three titles in four years, and a last chance to take advantage
of the eight seniors that were playing their final game;
Whereas, In the top of the third inning, Austin Munn
singled with the bases loaded, driving in two runs to give
Lafayette Central Catholic a 4-1 lead;
Whereas, Taylor Glaze pitched Lafayette Central
Catholic to a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning, with a man on
second, when rain forced a two-hour delay and a big
decision for Head Coach Tim Bordenet;
Whereas, Taylor Glaze told Coach Bordenet, "Coach,
you are not taking me out of this game. I'm staying in it."
Consequently, Taylor Glaze returned to the mound and led
his team to a 4-2 victory, pitching a complete game that
involved six strikeouts, six hits, and one earned run on 122
total pitches;
Whereas, Senior catcher Reed Drysdale's ability to play any position, third base in the 2007 state title game and second base in the 2009 state title game, along with Taylor Glaze's masterful pitching and will to win, were just two examples of the experience Coach Bordenet believes ultimately pushed his team all season long;
Whereas, When asked if winning a title or defending it is
more difficult, Coach Bordenet said, "It's harder to defend it.
You have a target on your back. We have had it all year, and
our kids, we have eight seniors, they knew what it took to
win. They worked so hard, and I am really proud of them,
and they can finish their careers with three state titles"; and
Whereas, The Lafayette Central Catholic baseball team
is to be commended for winning the Class A state
championship and congratulated for their outstanding
season: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates the
Lafayette Central Catholic baseball team on winning the Class A state
championship, their third state championship out of the last four years.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Lafayette Central Catholic
baseball team and Head Coach Tim Bordenet.
