Synopsis: Worker's compensation. Establishes the interim study
committee (committee) on medical reimbursement of worker's
compensation and sets topics of study for the committee. Requires the
committee to operate under the policies governing study committees
adopted by the legislative council.

A BILL FOR AN ACT concerning labor and safety.
(b) As used in this SECTION, "medical services facility" means a hospital, clinic, surgery center, nursing home, rehabilitation center, or other health care facility that provides medical services, treatment, or supplies under IC 22-3-2 through IC 22-3-6.
(c) There is established the interim study committee on medical reimbursement for worker's compensation. The committee shall study the:
(1) pecuniary liability of an employer to employees under worker's compensation law for medical services, treatment, or supplies furnished by a medical services facility;
(2) collection of payment of a charge for medical services or products covered under the worker's compensation law for an employee or the employee's estate or family members; and
(3) payment of a filing fee by employers to the worker's
compensation board for proof of compliance with the
requirement to hold worker's compensation insurance.
(d) The committee shall operate under the policies governing
study committees adopted by the legislative council.
(e) The affirmative votes of a majority of the voting members
appointed to the committee are required for the committee to take
action on any measure, including final reports.
(f) This SECTION expires December 31, 2011.
