2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Richard P. "Dick" Miller of Bloomington, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on August 23, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dick Miller was born in Tiskilwa to Raymond P. and | ||||||
6 | Blanche Ames Miller on July 29, 1936; he married Avalon Sash in | ||||||
7 | Tiskilwa on June 28, 1958; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dick Miller began his career at the General | ||||||
9 | Telephone Co., serving over 40 years; he retired as the | ||||||
10 | Director of Governmental Affairs; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dick Miller was a member of the Western Illinois | ||||||
12 | University Foundation Board, where he served for 25 years; he | ||||||
13 | was a longtime member of the Cavalry United Methodist Church, | ||||||
14 | where he served in a variety of ways; he was an avid golfer and | ||||||
15 | enjoyed socializing with family and friends; he especially | ||||||
16 | enjoyed his visits with the "Garage Kings" in his neighborhood; | ||||||
17 | and

18 | WHEREAS, Dick Miller was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
19 | and his sister, Kai Nelson; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Dick Miller is survived by his wife, Avalon; his |

1 | sons, Dr. Gary (Jan) Sash and Ron (Terri) Miller; his | ||||||
2 | grandchildren, Nick Sash, Jason Sash, Eric Sash, Jessica | ||||||
3 | Kirkpatrick, and Jennifer Miller; his great-grandchildren, | ||||||
4 | Matthew Sash, Makayla Sash, Maxwell Sash, Logan Sash, Brooke | ||||||
5 | Kirkpatrick, and Abby Kirkpatrick; his brothers, David (Deko) | ||||||
6 | Miller and Jerry (Carolyn) Miller; and his brother-in-law, | ||||||
7 | Russell Nelson; therefore, be it

8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
10 | Richard P. "Dick" Miller, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
11 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
