SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elaine M. Wenzel of Waukegan, who passed
4away on May 4, 2014; and
5 WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel was born on March 23, 1934 in Lake
6County, where she remained a lifelong resident; and
7 WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel's Catholic upbringing began at Holy
8Family Church in North Chicago, where she received the Lord and
9later married her husband of 58 years, Joseph; eventually, she
10became a member of St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan, where she
11nurtured the Christian faith of her 9 children; and
12 WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel was preceded in death by her
13parents, Menelaos and Eveline Papageorge, and a brother, George
14(the late Carol) Papageorge; and
15 WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel is survived by her husband of 58
16years, Joseph; 9 children, Christopher Wenzel, Mary (Craig)
17Bloemker, Kevin Wenzel, Karen Saveraid, Joseph Wenzel, Jean
18Wenzel, Loretta (Howard) Jones, Susan Wenzel, and Lisa (Tom)
19Hackl; 15 grandchildren, Kristina, Katie, Justin, Joshua,
20Kyle, Kelly, Matthew, Jacob, Angela, Brandy, Alexander, Ryan,
21Sarah, Joe, and Rachel; a great-grandchild, Eliana; a brother,

1Michael (Anna) Papageorge; and many nieces and nephews; and
2 WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel will be remembered fondly as a
3loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and
4friend and a woman who touched the lives of everyone she met
5and opened her heart to anyone in need; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Elaine M. Wenzel; and
9be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Elaine Wenzel as an expression of
12our sympathy.
