SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joel Clayton Johnson Sr. of Peoria, who
4passed away on April 4, 2013; and
5 WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was born on August 17, 1962, in
6Chicago to Bishop Joseph H. and Annie Jo (Hunter) Johnson; he
7graduated from Woodruff High School in 1980; and
8 WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was an ordained minister, peer
9mentor, and board member at New Hope Apartments and its
10president's counsel; and
11 WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was employed by ComEd for over a
12decade and held various positions at Caterpillar, Cilco, UPS,
13and ADM; and
14 WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was preceded in death by his
15mother, Annie Jo Gordon; and
16 WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. is survived by his children, Joel
17Clayton Johnson Jr. and Gabrielle Armani Johnson; his father,
18Bishop Joseph Johnson; his siblings Jonathan (Dedra) Johnson
19Sr., Illinois State Representative Jehan (Derrick) Booth,
20Jamal (Rosie) Gordon, Ralph (Gloria) Wrightner, Roger Jordan,

1Lydell Gordon Jr., Chantay (Corey) Gray, Shando (Don) Harris,
2Antoinette (Cornelius) Donald, and Daniel (Liz) Billsbury; and
323 foster brothers; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Joel Johnson Sr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Joel Johnson Sr. as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
