2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Stoneking of Milan, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 6, 2017 at the age of 91; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Richard Stoneking was born in Rock Island to Harry | ||||||
6 | and Lillian Stoneking on June 13, 1925; he spent most of his | ||||||
7 | educational years in Galesburg; he served in the United States | ||||||
8 | Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945; while serving in | ||||||
9 | Italy, he was awarded the Purple Heart; he married Gladys I. | ||||||
10 | Powless in Erie on July 15, 1950; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Richard Stoneking returned to Rock Island after | ||||||
12 | the war and began working for Farmall International Harvester | ||||||
13 | Co.; he retired from Farmall as a Tool Room supervisor in 1982; | ||||||
14 | after his retirement, he was employed by the city of Rock | ||||||
15 | Island Park Board, serving at both Highland Springs and Saukie | ||||||
16 | golf courses; and

17 | WHEREAS, Richard Stoneking was active in his church, | ||||||
18 | teaching Bible studies and Sunday school; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Richard Stoneking is survived by his wife, Gladys; | ||||||
20 | his daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Mike Kelley, Laura | ||||||
21 | and David Brummitt, and Sally and Jeff Zerull; five |

1 | grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
4 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" | ||||||
5 | Stoneking, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
6 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Richard Stoneking as an expression | ||||||
9 | of our deepest sympathy.
