| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Chester Gzrybowski on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his 105th birthday on June 27, 2016; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski was born on June 27, 1911; he | ||||||
| 6 | grew up on Chicago's South Side in the Back of the Yards | ||||||
| 7 | neighborhood; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski worked in the Civilian | ||||||
| 9 | Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, building roads | ||||||
| 10 | and lodges throughout the United States; during World War II, | ||||||
| 11 | he served with the United States Army in the South Pacific; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski is considered by his family and | ||||||
| 13 | friends to be a master storyteller who enjoys sharing his | ||||||
| 14 | perceptions about history, culture, and life; he also enjoys | ||||||
| 15 | reading, music, visiting with his friends at his many senior | ||||||
| 16 | clubs, and traveling with his family and friends; he is an avid | ||||||
| 17 | sportsman and loves fishing and rooting on the Chicago White | ||||||
| 18 | Sox and Bears; in his younger days, he was a ballroom dancer | ||||||
| 19 | and still collects old recordings and memorabilia from the Big | ||||||
| 20 | Band era; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski married Josephine, whom he met | ||||||

| 1 | dancing in a ballroom, in the early 1940s, and they had a | ||||||
| 2 | daughter, Carol-Anne; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski has been witness to much | ||||||
| 4 | history throughout the years but has always kept his love of | ||||||
| 5 | humanity and his spirited optimism; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski's secret to living a long life | ||||||
| 7 | is to stay active, eat light, and drink a glass of wine each | ||||||
| 8 | day; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 10 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 11 | congratulate Chester Gzrybowski on his 105th birthday and we | ||||||
| 12 | wish him many more wonderful years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to Chester Gzrybowski as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 15 | esteem.
