2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Karina Zabicki | ||||||
4 | DeHayes on the occasion of her election to the position of | ||||||
5 | president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes earned her J.D. degree from the | ||||||
7 | Loyola University of Chicago School of Law; she was a member of | ||||||
8 | the Loyola Consumer Law Review and participated in Loyola's | ||||||
9 | Moot Court
Program, and received an award for Best Oral | ||||||
10 | Advocate at the regional competition; in 1996,
she served as a | ||||||
11 | legal extern to the Honorable George M. Marovich of the Federal | ||||||
12 | District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; in March | ||||||
13 | of 2001, she joined Tabet, DiVito, and Rothstein; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes has handled cases involving breach | ||||||
15 | of contract, real estate litigation, statutory and common law, | ||||||
16 | unfair competition and fraud, defamation, golden parachute | ||||||
17 | litigation, breach of fiduciary duty, and professional | ||||||
18 | malpractice; she has been admitted as a member of the Federal | ||||||
19 | Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois; and

20 | WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes is a member of the Chicago Bar | ||||||
21 | Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the American | ||||||
22 | Bar Association, and Advocates Society; she also serves as a |

1 | mentor to many women attorneys through her role with the | ||||||
2 | Women's Bar Association of Illinois; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, In 2008, Karina DeHayes was named in the Law | ||||||
4 | Bulletin's "40 Under Forty - Illinois attorneys to watch"; for | ||||||
5 | three consecutive years beginning in 2009, she was named an | ||||||
6 | Illinois "Rising Star" by her peers in SuperLawyers Magazine, a | ||||||
7 | distinction reserved for the top 2.5% of Illinois lawyers who | ||||||
8 | are under 40 or in practice for 10 years or less; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
10 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
11 | Illinois; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
13 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
14 | we congratulate Karina Zabicki DeHayes on the occasion of her | ||||||
15 | election to the position of president of the Women's Bar | ||||||
16 | Association of Illinois and wish her continued success and | ||||||
17 | happiness in the future; and be it further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to Karina DeHayes as a symbol of our appreciation and | ||||||
