| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the American Legislative | ||||||
| 4 | Exchange Council for its significant contributions on the | ||||||
| 5 | occasion of its 45th anniversary and to congratulate its Board | ||||||
| 6 | of Directors and Chief Executive Officer Lisa B. Nelson; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council was | ||||||
| 8 | founded in Chicago in 1973 by state lawmakers from across the | ||||||
| 9 | United States dedicated to the Jeffersonian principles of | ||||||
| 10 | limited government, free markets, and federalism; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council has | ||||||
| 12 | grown to become the nation's largest voluntary membership | ||||||
| 13 | association of state legislators; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council is | ||||||
| 15 | currently comprised of nearly one quarter of the country's | ||||||
| 16 | state legislators and stakeholders from across the policy | ||||||
| 17 | spectrum; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Members of the American Legislative Exchange | ||||||
| 19 | Council represent more than 60 million Americans and have | ||||||
| 20 | provided jobs to more than 30 million people in the United | ||||||
| 21 | States; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council | ||||||
| 2 | conferences serve as a forum for state lawmakers to exchange | ||||||
| 3 | ideas and develop real, state-based solutions; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 5 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 6 | recognize the American Legislative Exchange Council on the | ||||||
| 7 | occasion of its 45th anniversary, and we honor its significant | ||||||
| 8 | contributions; we also congratulate its Board of Directors and | ||||||
| 9 | Chief Executive Officer Lisa B. Nelson; and be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to the American Legislative Council Board of | ||||||
| 12 | Directors.
