HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize the American Legislative
4Exchange Council for its significant contributions on the
5occasion of its 45th anniversary and to congratulate its Board
6of Directors and Chief Executive Officer Lisa B. Nelson; and
7 WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council was
8founded in Chicago in 1973 by state lawmakers from across the
9United States dedicated to the Jeffersonian principles of
10limited government, free markets, and federalism; and
11 WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council has
12grown to become the nation's largest voluntary membership
13association of state legislators; and
14 WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council is
15currently comprised of nearly one quarter of the country's
16state legislators and stakeholders from across the policy
17spectrum; and
18 WHEREAS, Members of the American Legislative Exchange
19Council represent more than 60 million Americans and have
20provided jobs to more than 30 million people in the United
21States; and

1 WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council
2conferences serve as a forum for state lawmakers to exchange
3ideas and develop real, state-based solutions; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6recognize the American Legislative Exchange Council on the
7occasion of its 45th anniversary, and we honor its significant
8contributions; we also congratulate its Board of Directors and
9Chief Executive Officer Lisa B. Nelson; and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the American Legislative Council Board of
12Directors.
