2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles | ||||||
4 | "Hank" Salemi of Libertyville,
who passed away on January 9, | ||||||
5 | 2022; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was born to Barbara and Henry Salemi | ||||||
7 | in Birmingham, Alabama on May 10, 1964; he graduated from the | ||||||
8 | University of Alabama; he settled in Libertyville in 2006; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Hank Salemi began his career with Ringling | ||||||
10 | Brothers/Feld Entertainment in Boston; he then moved to | ||||||
11 | Chicago, working for the Ogden Corporation; he found his | ||||||
12 | professional home of 24 years at Six Flags; he served as chief | ||||||
13 | marketing officer for Six Flags Corporate, based in Oklahoma | ||||||
14 | City, where he oversaw all marketing and advertising for 40 | ||||||
15 | parks worldwide; he became park president of Six Flags Great | ||||||
16 | America in Gurnee in 2006, and he was responsible for both | ||||||
17 | full-time and seasonal team members for 16 years; he was | ||||||
18 | deeply loved and respected by his entire Six Flags family; and

19 | WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was a global leader and expert in his | ||||||
20 | field, serving on the board of the International Association | ||||||
21 | of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) for the last seven | ||||||
22 | years; he was elected as the association's treasurer and |

1 | chairman of the IAAPA Compensation Committee; he received the | ||||||
2 | distinguished Special Services Award for his exemplary | ||||||
3 | contributions to the IAAPA; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was a member of St. Joseph Parish in | ||||||
5 | Libertyville; he was an avid fan of the University of Alabama; | ||||||
6 | he enjoyed attending poker night with friends, cooking on his | ||||||
7 | grill and smoker, making his father's Italian pasta sauce, and | ||||||
8 | nights out with friends; he loved planning trips and seeing | ||||||
9 | the world with his family; and

10 | WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was known as a creative genius for | ||||||
11 | his writing skills and abilities to tell a story and deliver a | ||||||
12 | punchline; he was devoted to his wife, daughter, and the | ||||||
13 | family dogs Gus, Dixie, and Ben; he will be remembered for his | ||||||
14 | wit, wisdom, integrity, and kindness; and

15 | WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was preceded in death by an infant | ||||||
16 | daughter, Colleen Salemi; his father, Henry Salemi; and his | ||||||
17 | sister, Sherry Cummings; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Hank Salemi is survived by his wife of 21 years, | ||||||
19 | Kathleen; his daughter, Claire; his mother, Barbara Salemi; | ||||||
20 | his sister, Debra Salemi; and many nieces, nephews, and | ||||||
21 | in-laws; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
2 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we mourn the passing of Charles "Hank" Salemi and extend our | ||||||
4 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
5 | and loved him; and be it further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Hank Salemi as an expression of our | ||||||
8 | deepest sympathy.
