2 | WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are | ||||||
3 | saddened to learn of the passing of Bill "Coach" Zeman; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Bill Zeman was born on January 9, 1954 in Oak Lawn | ||||||
5 | to Frank and Joan Cuchna Zeman; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Bill Zeman married Melinda Zeman on April 2, 1977 | ||||||
7 | in Winfield; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Bill Zeman started his teaching career at | ||||||
9 | Roanoke-Benson High School in 1976; he loved teaching and | ||||||
10 | never left the school; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, During his career, Bill Zeman taught classes and | ||||||
12 | ultimately became the dean of students; he retired in 2013; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Bill Zeman coached the Roanoke-Benson High School | ||||||
15 | Rocket's varsity baseball team from 1979 until 2014; he also | ||||||
16 | coached cross country, girls softball, JV and varsity girls | ||||||
17 | basketball, JV and varsity boys basketball, and junior high | ||||||
18 | baseball; and

19 | WHEREAS, Bill Zeman had many successful teams and sports |

1 | seasons, which included both regional and sectional titles; he | ||||||
2 | led the undefeated, state championship-winning 1995 Rocket's | ||||||
3 | baseball team; he was inducted into the Illinois High School | ||||||
4 | Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1994, the Greater Peoria | ||||||
5 | Sports Hall of Fame in 2015, and the Bloomington Normal | ||||||
6 | Officials Hall of Fame in 2014; and

7 | WHEREAS, Bill Zeman's successes were due to his love for | ||||||
8 | and dedication to his players; this love was returned by the | ||||||
9 | community with the dedication of the Roanoke-Benson High | ||||||
10 | School baseball diamond, which was named in his honor; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Off the field and out of class, Bill Zeman loved | ||||||
12 | to fish, to watch NASCAR and the Cubs, to spend time with his | ||||||
13 | family, and to vacation at his cabin in Arkansas; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Bill Zeman leaves a loving legacy, including his | ||||||
15 | two daughters, Jayme Magnuson and Heather Scweigert, and his | ||||||
16 | seven grandchildren, Brock and Reese Magnuson and Emma, Luke, | ||||||
17 | Ryan, Jack, and Rhet Schweigert; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we mourn the passing of Bill "Coach" Zeman and extend our | ||||||
21 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
22 | and loved him; and be it further
