Bill Title: Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. Provides that during a trial or hearing related to a criminal prosecution, the court shall order that the residence address, business address, name of the place of business, home telephone number, or business telephone number of any victims of or witnesses to the crime shall not be disclosed in open court. Provides that during questioning by the State or defense, a victim or witness shall not be required to disclose such information unless the court determines that there is a compelling reason to order such disclosure in the interest of justice that outweighs prejudice to the victim or witness.

1 AN ACT concerning criminal law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is
5amended by adding Section 115-23 as follows:
6 (725 ILCS 5/115-23 new)
7 Sec. 115-23. Nondisclosure of certain information about
8victims and witnesses.
9 (a) During a trial or hearing related to a criminal
10prosecution, the court shall order that the residence address,
11business address, name of the place of business, home telephone
12number, or business telephone number of any victims of or
13witnesses to the crime shall not be disclosed in open court.
14 (b) During questioning by the State or defense, a victim or
15witness shall not be required to disclose the information
16listed in subsection (a) unless the court determines that there
17is a compelling reason to order such disclosure in the interest
18of justice that outweighs prejudice to the victim or witness.
