Authorizes the board of education of a school district, by resolution, to initiate an advisory question under the Code to be placed on the ballot both in the territory of the school district and in the precincts adjacent to the boundaries of the school district.

AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3096
2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3096, AS AMENDED, by
3replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
5 "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
69-1.5 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/9-1.5 new)
8 Sec. 9-1.5. Advisory referenda. By a vote of the majority
9of the members of the school board, the board may authorize an
10advisory question of public policy to be placed on the ballot
11at the next regularly scheduled election in the school
12district. The school board shall certify the question to the
13proper election authority, which must submit the question at an
14election in accordance with the Election Code, provided,
15however, that no such question may be submitted at a
16consolidated primary election.".
