Bill Title: Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that the board of trustees of any fire protection district may, by ordinance, require the installation of an access or key box if: (1) a structure is protected by an automatic fire alarm or security system or access to or within the structure or area is unduly difficult because of secured openings; and (2) immediate access is necessary for life-saving purposes. Further provides that an ordinance enacted under this Section may specify the type or class of structure that must install an access or key box, but may not apply to single family residential structures. Effective immediately.

AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1349
2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1349 on page 1, line
313, after the period, by inserting "In the case of a health
4care facility that is secured by an electronic code box that is
5in good working order, if the owner of the health care facility
6provides the fire department with a valid access code, then
7that health care facility is not required to be accessible by
8an access or key box. For the purposes of this Section, "health
9care facility" means: a hospital licensed under the Hospital
10Licensing Act; a nursing home or long-term care facility
11licensed under the Nursing Home Care Act; an assisted living
12establishment, as defined in the Assisted Living and Shared
13Housing Act; a mental health facility, as defined in the Mental
14Health and Developmental Disabilities Code; a supportive
15living facility certified to participate in the supportive
16living facilities program under Section 5-5.01a of the Illinois
17Public Aid Code; or a facility licensed under the Specialized
18Mental Health Rehabilitation Act.".
