Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides for the issuance of Prince Hall Freemasonry license plates. Provides that in addition to the appropriate registration fees, an applicant for the special plate shall be charged a fee of $25 at original issuance and renewal. Provides that $15 of the additional fee for original issuance and $2 of the additional fee for renewal shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund. Provides that $10 of the additional fee for original issuance and $23 of the additional fee for renewal shall be deposited into the Master Mason Fund.

1 | AN ACT concerning transportation.
| ||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding | ||||||
5 | Section 3-699 as follows:

6 | (625 ILCS 5/3-699 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 3-699. Prince Hall Freemasonry plates. | ||||||
8 | (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and | ||||||
9 | applications
made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may | ||||||
10 | issue special registration
plates designated as Prince Hall | ||||||
11 | Freemasonry license plates. | ||||||
12 | The special plates issued under this Section shall be | ||||||
13 | affixed only to
passenger vehicles of the first division or | ||||||
14 | motor vehicles of the second
division weighing not more than | ||||||
15 | 8,000 pounds. | ||||||
16 | Plates issued under this Section shall expire according to | ||||||
17 | the multi-year
procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this | ||||||
18 | Code. | ||||||
19 | (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be | ||||||
20 | wholly within the
discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate | ||||||
21 | documentation, as determined by the
Secretary, shall accompany | ||||||
22 | each application. | ||||||
23 | (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a |

1 | $25 fee for
original issuance in addition to the appropriate | ||||||
2 | registration fee. Of this
fee, $10 shall be deposited into the | ||||||
3 | Master Mason Fund and $15 shall be
deposited into the Secretary | ||||||
4 | of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used by
the | ||||||
5 | Secretary to help defray the administrative processing costs. | ||||||
6 | For each registration renewal period, a $25 fee, in | ||||||
7 | addition to the
appropriate registration fee, shall be charged. | ||||||
8 | Of this fee, $23 shall be
deposited into the Master Mason Fund | ||||||
9 | and $2 shall be deposited into the
Secretary of State Special | ||||||
10 | License Plate Fund.
