1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3126

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3126 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The 2-1-1 Service Act is amended by adding | ||||||
5 | Section 31 as follows:
| ||||||
6 | (20 ILCS 1335/31 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 31. Cook County 2-1-1 services. | ||||||
8 | (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act and | ||||||
9 | subject to the availability of funds as provided in subsection | ||||||
10 | (b), the Department of Human Services shall designate and | ||||||
11 | approve a public or nonprofit agency or other organization to | ||||||
12 | provide 2-1-1 services within the geographical area of Cook | ||||||
13 | County. The Department shall provide grants to the approved | ||||||
14 | 2-1-1 service provider to: | ||||||
15 | (1) design, develop, and implement 2-1-1 services for | ||||||
16 | the Cook County service area; |

1 | (2) provide and evaluate on an ongoing basis 2-1-1 | ||||||
2 | service delivery to the Cook County service area; and | ||||||
3 | (3) enable the provision of 2-1-1 services to the Cook | ||||||
4 | County service area on a 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week | ||||||
5 | basis. | ||||||
6 | (b) Implementation of this Section is contingent on the | ||||||
7 | availability of funds provided for this purpose by (i) the | ||||||
8 | Department, (ii) the public or nonprofit agency or other | ||||||
9 | organization approved to provide 2-1-1 services within the | ||||||
10 | geographical area of Cook County, and (iii) other governmental | ||||||
11 | agencies involved in the provision of 2-1-1 services. ".
