SENATE RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the governor's coordinator on homelessness to develop and implement for various neighborhoods across the state separate regional plans that coordinate shelter facilities and services to meet the needs of the homeless population and concerns of impacted communities.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, homelessness continues to be a significant issue throughout the State; and

 

     WHEREAS, an estimated fifteen thousand individuals in Hawaii are homeless; and

 

     WHEREAS, urban Honolulu receives most of the moneys allocated to address homelessness; and

 

     WHEREAS, the State is failing to collaborate with various local nonprofit organizations throughout the State to address homelessness; and

 

     WHEREAS, homelessness is a crisis that necessitates increased collaboration between the State, counties, neighborhood boards, and nonprofit organizations; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2020, that the Governor's Coordinator on Homelessness is requested to develop and implement separate regional plans for various neighborhoods across the State; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the regional plans include the coordination of shelter facilities and services of public agencies and nonprofit organizations to meet the needs of the homeless population and concerns of impacted communities; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor and Governor's Coordinator on Homelessness.
