A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to emergencIES.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the residents living in the Salt Lake area near the freeway are unable to hear the emergency siren located at the Salt Lake District Park due to ambient freeway noise.  A new emergency siren is needed in the Salt Lake area so that residents in the area can be alerted to all civil defense emergencies in a timely manner in order to take any necessary safety measures.

     The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for the installation of new outdoor sirens in the Salt Lake area.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $100,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 for the installation of new outdoor sirens in the Salt Lake area of Oahu in connection with the statewide outdoor siren warning system.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of defense for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2018.
