A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to transit oriented development.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 225M, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§225M- Transit oriented development coordinator; established. There is established within the office of planning a transit oriented development coordinator to coordinate, develop, and plan a transit oriented development strategy that would:
(1) Inventory state lands in transit oriented development areas;
(2) Assess agency needs and siting opportunities;
(3) Prioritize sites for development planning;
(4) Prepare site master plans for priority sites;
(5) Explore public-private partnerships;
(6) Seek funding for project implementation; and
(7) Undertake site master plans.
The coordinator shall be appointed by the director of the office of planning in accordance with chapters 76 and 89."
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2015-2016 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2016-2017 to establish the transit oriented development coordinator position.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the office of planning for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2015.
