HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

ENCOURAGING THE STATE FOUNDATION ON CULTURE AND THE ARTS TO COMMISSION PERMANENT EXHIBITS AND DISPLAY INFORMATION RELATING TO ART, CULTURE, HISTORY, AND THE HUMANITIES AT THE HAWAII STATE CAPITOL, WHICH MAY COINCIDE WITH THE CELEBRATION OF THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HAWAII STATE CAPITOL.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts was established in 1965 to promote, perpetuate, preserve, and encourage culture and the arts, history, and the humanities as central to the quality of life of the people of Hawaii; and

 

     WHEREAS, the public display of art and illustrative information advances the mission of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Capitol houses the offices of the State Legislature and Governor and hosts numerous visitors and members of the public during business hours; and

 

     WHEREAS, many identifiable places in the State Capitol exist in which artwork, murals, prints, reproductions, and other information could be displayed for the public to appreciate; and

 

     WHEREAS, Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 81, Regular Session of 2016, established a task force to plan and coordinate the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Hawaii State Capitol to include various program activities and events from March 15, 2018, through March 15, 2019; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-ninth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2017, the Senate concurring, that the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts is encouraged to commission permanent exhibits and display information relating to art, culture, history, and the humanities at the Hawaii State Capitol, which may coincide with the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Hawaii State Capitol; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor, Comptroller, and Executive Director of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
