A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to leeward community college.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The leeward community college campus that also serves as a temporary site for the University of Hawaii West Oahu campus is presently serviced by one access road, for ingress and egress, that is reached by crossing a grade separator over the H-1 freeway and using Kamehameha highway. This access road also serves a private townhouse development. The legislature finds that this single access road limits access to the campus, causes traffic congestion, and could cause problems in the event of an emergency.
The purpose of this Act is appropriate funds for the planning, design, and construction of a second access road to serve the leeward community college.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2009-2010 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2010-2011 for the planning, design, and construction of a second access road for the leeward community college; provided that such sums shall be used solely for this purpose.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
