A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO FOOD SAFETY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. (a) The department of health, with the cooperation of the department of agriculture and the department of business, economic development, and tourism, shall develop a detailed plan of action to simplify and consolidate permitting and licensing requirements for the production and processing of food by food production and processing facilities to comply with food safety requirements.
(b) The department of health may consult with any other state or federal agency it deems appropriate to develop the plan.
(c) The department of health shall submit its report to the legislature, including any necessary proposed legislation, no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2012.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2112.
