A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the natural energy laboratory of Hawaii authority.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 209E, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§209E-     Research and technology park business enterprise; eligibility for benefits.  A qualified business operating within a research and technology park, established pursuant to chapter 227D and located within an enterprise zone established pursuant to this chapter, shall be eligible for the same benefits under sections 209E-10, 209E-11, and 209E-12 as qualified businesses operating in the same enterprise zone."

     SECTION 2.  Chapter 227D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§227D-    Enterprise zone incentives.  All activities of the authority in furtherance of the duties prescribed by section 227D-2(a), and conducted within an enterprise zone established pursuant to chapter 209E, shall be entitled to the same benefits under sections 209E-10, 209E-11, and 209E-12 as a qualified business operating in the same enterprise zone."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority; State Enterprise Zones; Incentives

 

Description:

Authorizes businesses operating within a research and technology park, in an existing enterprise zone, to receive same benefits available to other businesses in the same enterprise zone.  Authorizes the projects of the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority, conducted within state enterprise zones, to receive the same benefits available to other businesses in the same enterprise zone.
