A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the twenty-first representative district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $3,090,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2021-2022 for the purpose of financing capital improvement projects for the twenty-first representative district, as follows:

1.   To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Kaimuki middle school, Oahu

          Plans, design, and construction for a covered walkway between the cafeteria and the physical education facility.

               Plans and design                       $  140,000

               Construction                           $1,260,000

                    Total funding                     $1,400,000

     B.   Kaimuki high school, Oahu

          Plans and construction for a teacher media center.

               Plans                                  $   15,000

               Construction                           $  135,000

                    Total funding                     $  150,000

     C.   Kaimuki high school, Oahu

          Plans and construction for two kiosks.

               Plans                                  $    4,000

               Construction                           $   36,000

                    Total funding                     $   40,000

     D.   Kuhio elementary school, Oahu

          Design and construction to add lighting.

               Design                                 $   10,000

               Construction                           $   90,000

                    Total funding                     $  100,000

     E.   Kuhio elementary school, Oahu

          Plans, design, and construction for an electrical upgrade to building H.

               Plans and design                       $   50,000

               Construction                           $  450,000

                    Total funding                     $  500,000

     F.   Liholiho elementary school, Oahu

          Construction for drainage improvements to buildings B, F, and J.

               Construction                           $  400,000

                    Total funding                     $  400,000

     G.   Washington middle school, Oahu

          Plans, design, and construction for a modern band room, including the relocation of the existing sewer line.

               Plans and design                       $   50,000

               Construction                           $  450,000

                    Total funding                     $  500,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2024, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2021.
