RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Nickie Stockel; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Nickie Stockel is the Forsyth County Deputy Coroner and has been recognized
as the 2011 Georgia Child Fatality Review Coroner of the Year; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Stockel has been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role
she has played in community leadership and her deep personal commitment to the
citizens of her community and the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
on many occasions, Ms. Stockel has gone above and beyond the call of duty as
coroner, taking time to assist families of the deceased with her knowledge of
forensic nursing to prevent further fatalities within the community;
and
WHEREAS,
she has great care for children's well-being and has been supportive to the
families of the deceased when they contact her for needs such as grief
counseling, paperwork, and assisting with the psychological well-being of the
other children in the family; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Stockel attends all Child Fatality Review meetings without compensation and
provides the majority of the information for the committee including medical
reports and police reports; and
WHEREAS,
she is involved in community initiatives to prevent child deaths, works with
area hospitals on prevention of child fatalities, and was recently certified as
a forensic nurse and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished Georgian has exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty,
outstanding service, and remarkable sensitivity to the needs of family members
who have lost loved ones and these qualities have earned her the respect and
admiration of her colleagues and associates.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
the exemplary service provided by Ms. Nickie Stockel and commend her service to
her community and this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Nickie Stockel.
