A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mrs. Sandra Jo Webb-Walker; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mrs. Sandra Jo Webb-Walker; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Webb-Walker was born on November 9, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia, the beloved
daughter of the late Jessie D. and Harry L. Stamper; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Mrs. Webb-Walker attended Clark
College and earned a bachelor's degree in education from Fort Valley State
College and a master's degree in education from Georgia State University;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Webb-Walker dedicated her career to uplifting and challenging the future
leaders of this state as an educator, with 30 years as a teacher in the DeKalb
County School System at Snapfinger Elementary School and with seven years as a
substitute teacher in the Atlanta Public School System; and
WHEREAS,
this dedicated educator was recognized with numerous honors and accolades during
her career, including Teacher of the Year for the DeKalb School System and an
Honorary Life Membership in the Georgia Parent-Teachers' Association;
and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Webb-Walker began her Christian life at
Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church and was an active member of Cascade
United Methodist Church, where she served as a receptionist and on the education
committee and was recognized with the Sweet Spirit Award; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Webb-Walker was united in love and marriage to her supportive husband,
Marvin, and was blessed with five remarkable stepchildren, Enoch, Roderick,
Nichelle, Kiana, and Marvin, Jr.; an adopted son, Reverend Olujimi Brown; and a
godchild, Chauncey Stewart; and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous woman, Mrs. Webb-Walker will long be remembered for
her love of family and friendship, and this loyal wife, sister, stepmother,
cousin, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Sandra Jo Webb-Walker and express their
deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Sandra
Jo Webb-Walker.
