A RESOLUTION


Commending Mrs. Larris J. Marks; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Larris J. Marks serves as director of human resources for the United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) at Fort McPherson, Georgia, which is the largest Army command and is responsible for the readiness for over 5 percent of the Army's force structure and 87 percent of the Army's combat power; and

WHEREAS, as director, Mrs. Marks is responsible for the well-being and family support programs that support and sustain over 750,000 soldiers and their families; she oversees the manpower analysis and validation of FORSCOM's military and civilian requirements; she directs the Civilian Human Resources policies and program execution for FORSCOM's civilian corps employees; and she also serves as the FORSCOM career program manager for all civilian careerists; and

WHEREAS, she began her career as a Department of the Air Force Civilian Personnel Intern and later went on to hold positions in Civilian Human Resources and Equal Employment Opportunity with the United States Air Force, Headquarters, Department of the Army, and United States Office of Personnel Management; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Marks earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Fort Valley State University and is a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership; and

WHEREAS, this outstanding public servant has been honored with several awards, including two Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, the Superior Civilian Service Award, and the prestigious Civilian Human Resources Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes sustained commitment to the highest standards of excellence and dedication in public service; and

WHEREAS, she united in love and marriage to Mr. Simon Marks, and the two are blessed with a daughter, Simone; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is honored to have such a motivated and hard-working individual as one of its citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that members of this body recognize Mrs. Larris J. Marks for her outstanding career and commend her for her years of service to soldiers and their families.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Larris J. Marks.
