A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the Lassiter High School swim and dive team and inviting them to be recognized
by the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Lassiter High School swim and dive team has established and maintained a
proud tradition of excellence in swimming and diving with equal emphases on
character and academics; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Trojans brought home their fourth consecutive GHSA Class AAAAA State
Championship title, while the boys team placed fourth in the state finals;
and
WHEREAS,
this year's team of talented swimmers included Amanda Abbott, Sammie Bosma,
Daniel Bridgers, Zach Bunner, Kim Carducci, Hannah Clark, Alli Crenshaw, Drew
Cuttic, Kylie Dickman, Jordan Drake, James Goodin, Micaela Janco, Lauren Leach,
Henry Loong, Zach Marshall, Mike McCarthy, Hailey Morris, Shannon O'Malley,
Nicole Prendes, Stephen Robin, Thomas Welch, Sarah Williford, Danielle Yanes,
and Jimmy Yoder; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb swimming and diving talents; and
the astute direction of Head Coach Glenn Meeden, Assistant Coach Theresa Mullan,
and Community Coach Kayla Fillingim; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Trojan 200 yard medley team broke the Georgia state record with a time
of 1:45.01 and included Sammie Bosma for the backstroke, Shannon O'Malley for
the breaststroke, Jordan Drake for the butterfly, and Kim Carducci for the
freestyle; and
WHEREAS,
the girls 400 yard freestyle relay team placed first in the state, Shannon
O'Malley won the state title in the 100 yard breaststroke, Kim Carducci placed
second in the state for the 100 yard freestyle, and Sammie Bosma won first in
the state for the 100 yard backstroke and the 100 yard freestyle;
and
WHEREAS,
the boys 200 yard freestyle relay team finished third in the state and the boys
400 yard freestyle relay placed second; and
WHEREAS,
from the boys team, Jimmy Yoder placed third in the state for the 200 yard
freestyle and second in the state for the 500 yard freestyle; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its
well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement and the
stiff competition which it presented its opponents.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Lassiter High School swim and dive team for its
unparalleled achievements and invite them to be recognized by the House of
Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House
of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach
Glenn Meeden.
