A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mr. William H. "Bill" Scoggins; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mr. William H. "Bill" Scoggins on January 31, 2010; and

WHEREAS, a longtime resident of Smyrna, Georgia, Mr. Scoggins diligently and conscientiously dedicated his time, talents, and energy to improving the lives of his neighbors as a member of the Smyrna City Council for over 19 years; and

WHEREAS, he retired from Fouts Brothers Truck Sales after 25 years of devoted service and was a charter member of the Smyrna Oakdale Moose Lodge and a member of The Nelms Masonic Lodge 323 F&M; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Scoggins was an active member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins was united in love and marriage to his adoring wife, Jeraldean, and was blessed with the love of eight children, Jo, Lisa, Michele, Gayle, Cookie, Bill, Chris, and Richard; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Scoggins will long be remembered for his love of dogs, family, and friendship, and this loyal husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. William H. "Bill" Scoggins and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. William H. "Bill" Scoggins.
