RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating the 50th birthday of Mrs. Sandra Tookes Leavell; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Sandra Tookes Leavell was born on April 22, 1960, the beloved daughter of
Henderson and Maude Tookes; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Leavell moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1986 after earning a bachelor's
degree in sociology from Southern University; and
WHEREAS,
her leadership skills and marketing finesse were instrumental during her 20 year
career with WorldCom, where she served as one of the first African American
Executive Vice Presidents of Marketing; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Leavell established Celine's Place and Celine's Family Services, Inc.,
which provides individual and group counseling for troubled youth and their
families; and
WHEREAS,
she is united in love and marriage to her supportive husband, Bill Leavell, and
has been blessed with a remarkable son, Alexander; and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the
foundation and framework of success in which her family has developed and
flourished; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Leavell is an active member of Antioch
Baptist Church, where she has assisted with various programs, including Pastor's
Coming, Hurricane Katrina Relief, Pastor's Birthday Celebrations, Boat Rides,
Women's Day activities, and numerous others; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens and she possesses the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made
of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is
only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very
special and memorable time of her life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending Mrs. Sandra Tookes Leavell on the occasion of her
50th birthday and wishing her many more years of happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Sandra
Tookes Leavell.
