RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. David O'Keeffe and Ms. Jackie Turner for winning the National Special Needs
Team Safety Roadeo; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo is administered by Edupro Group
and the National Association for Pupil Transportation and is hosted by the
National Conference on Transporting Students with Disabilities and Preschoolers;
and
WHEREAS,
participants in the National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo are passionate
about special needs transportation and desire to learn how to improve their
skills and network with other special needs transportation providers from around
the country; and
WHEREAS,
each participant of the National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo walks away
with greater knowledge and understanding of Special Needs Transportation;
and
WHEREAS,
in addition to a written exam, Roadeo contestants are judged in driving and
backing a bus; loading, unloading, and securing students in wheelchairs; and
evacuating a special needs bus while maintaining behavioral control of special
students on the bus; and
WHEREAS,
these dedicated and talented professionals also participate in a full range of
professional development opportunities; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. O'Keeffe and Ms. Turner represented Georgia in the National Roadeo
competition and brought home first place; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia is proud to have such motivated and committed professionals
as citizens, and it is abundantly fitting and proper to call these outstanding
Georgians champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. David O'Keeffe and Ms. Jackie Turner for providing safe
transportation to Georgia's special needs students and congratulate them on
winning the National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Mr. David
O'Keeffe and Ms. Jackie Turner.
