RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation was formed in 1937 as a voice for production
agriculture in legislative affairs; and
WHEREAS,
from its humble beginnings in Northwest Georgia, the Georgia Farm Bureau
Federation has grown to 159 county chapters led by volunteer farmer members, and
the membership has steadily risen to its present level of 383,812 family
members; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding federation of Georgia farmers has become a diversified
organization which focuses on service to its members and the improvement of
Georgia agriculture; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation now operates nine companies which provide
service to its members in areas ranging from insurance to real estate services
to farm record management services; and
WHEREAS,
the House Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee has long recognized the
Georgia Farm Bureau Federation, under the dedicated leadership of its president,
Mr. Vincent "Zippy" Duvall, as an exemplary voice of Georgia agriculture;
and
WHEREAS,
the General Assembly will observe February 17, 2010, as Georgia Farm Bureau Day
at the capitol.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation and its
members for their many years of dedicated service to Georgia agriculture and
their exceptional assistance to the members of the House of
Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia
Farm Bureau Federation.
