BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 2 of Title 21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to primaries and elections generally, so as to provide that returns of absentee
ballots shall be made by precinct; to provide for related matters; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
2 of Title 21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to primaries
and elections generally, is amended by revising subsection (d) of Code Section
21-2-386, relating to safekeeping, certification, and validation of absentee
ballots, as follows:
"(d)
Any other
provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, if at any primary, general, or
special election in any county any question is to be voted on involving any
political subdivision which includes less than the entire county, all absentee
ballots shall be separated by precinct for counting
purposes
All absentee
ballots shall be counted and tabulated in such a manner that returns may be
reported by precinct; and separate returns
shall be
certified
made
for each precinct in which absentee ballots were cast
showing the
results by each precinct in which the electors
reside."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
