Florida Senate - 2019 SB 1006 By Senator Rodriguez 37-00319-19 20191006__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to public electric utility rates; 3 amending s. 366.06, F.S.; requiring public electric 4 utilities to charge specified electric rates as of a 5 certain date; providing an effective date. 6 7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8 9 Section 1. Subsection (5) is added to section 366.06, 10 Florida Statutes, to read: 11 366.06 Rates; procedure for fixing and changing.— 12 (5) Effective on the date of the conclusion of the first 13 public electric rate request hearing before the commission after 14 July 1, 2019, or if no such hearing occurs before July 1, 2023, 15 on July 1, 2023, a public electric utility shall charge for the 16 first 500 kilowatt hours used by a residential customer a rate 17 that is 25 percent below the overall rate charged by the public 18 electric utility for that customer or, if the public electric 19 utility applies a progressive rate schedule to charge that 20 customer, 25 percent below the second tier of the progressive 21 rate schedule for that customer. 22 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2019.
