Florida Senate - 2024 SB 628 By Senator Simon 3-01558-24 2024628__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to prohibited use of human trafficked 3 labor in government contracts; amending s. 787.06, 4 F.S.; requiring certain contractors with governmental 5 entities to provide an affidavit attesting the 6 contractor does not use coercion for labor or 7 services; providing a definition; providing an 8 effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Subsection (13) is added to section 787.06, 13 Florida Statutes, to read: 14 787.06 Human trafficking.— 15 (13) When a contract is executed, renewed, or extended 16 between a nongovernmental entity and a governmental entity, the 17 nongovernmental entity must provide the governmental entity with 18 an affidavit, signed by an officer or representative of the 19 nongovernmental entity under penalty of perjury, attesting that 20 the nongovernmental entity does not use coercion for labor or 21 services as defined in this section. For purposes of this 22 subsection, the term “governmental entity” has the same meaning 23 as in s. 287.138(1). 24 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.
