2A resolution recognizing April 15, 2010, as "Disability
3Awareness Day" in the State of Florida.

5 WHEREAS, in 2007, there were approximately 2.6 million
6disabled Floridians, and
7 WHEREAS, a disability can be physical, perceptual,
8intellectual, academic, or psychiatric and can be visible or
9hidden, and
10 WHEREAS, a disability affects an individual in many facets
11of daily living, including housing, employment, education,
12leisure, or personal care, and
13 WHEREAS, disabled individuals are a vital part of Florida
14in their roles as valued workers, civic leaders, business
15owners, veterans, students, family members, and friends, and
16 WHEREAS, advocacy and education are valuable tools for
17promoting policies that remove barriers and increase awareness
18regarding persons with disabilities, NOW, THEREFORE,

20Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
21Florida:

23 That April 15, 2010, is recognized as "Disability Awareness
24Day" in the State of Florida.
