RECOGNIZING JUNE 25, 2016 AS MARINE CORPS LEAGUE DAY IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE. |
WHEREAS, the Marine Corps League was established in June, 1923, by Marine veterans of World War I, and chartered by an Act of Congress on August 4, 1937, supporting its members who have so faithfully served their nation in times of war and in maintaining peace; and
WHEREAS, the motto of Semper Fidelis is in keeping with the commitment that members of the United States Marine Corps have exhibited since its inception and that our Armed Forces have proven time and again since this nation's founding; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Marine Corps League is to preserve the traditions and interests of the United States Marine Corps, and to band those who are now serving and those who have been honorably discharged together in fellowship; and
WHEREAS, membership in the Marine Corps League is open to all men and women who are serving or have served in the United States Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, serving as a voice in Washington, the Marine Corps League represents the interests of its members by helping to ensure the retention of earned benefits, adequate funding of the Corps, and help for Marine families; and
WHEREAS, through countless hours of charity and volunteer work, the Marine Corps League has demonstrated its commitment to its fellow Marines, families and communities by honoring those who have passed and enhancing the quality of life for those living; and
WHEREAS, the State of Delaware is proud to honor the members of the United States Marine Corps League;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware that we hereby recognize the day of June 25, 2016 as Marine Corps League Day in the State of Delaware.
