Summary

This Bill creates a Heavy Vehicle Weight Law Task Force to analyze the ramifications of restricting the weight of trucks operating in Delaware to the vehicle manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating. The current law has numerous flaws that have resulted in implementation delays for 15 years. The Task Force will provide recommendations of how to modify, change or delete the current law. The Bill also delays implementation of the current law, which is scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2010, until July 1, 2011. This will provide time for the General Assembly to act on the recommendations of the Task Force.
