AN ACT CONCERNING FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE IN FUNERAL HOMES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2014) Any person engaged in the business of funeral directing and any funeral director, as such terms are defined in section 20-207 of the general statutes, may serve nonalcoholic beverages and packaged food, as defined in section 21a-151 of the general statutes, to a person at the time he or she is making funeral arrangements or arranging for disposition of a dead human body at a funeral home.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
Section 1	October 1, 2014	New section

Statement of Purpose:

To adopt the recommendations of the task force to study the provision of beverages and prepackaged food in funeral homes by allowing the service of nonalcoholic beverages and packaged food during prearrangement and arrangement meetings at funeral homes.
